CCF YOUTH PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES 2009:

International Day of Peace- (21st September)

The International Day of Peace was commemorated on the 21st of September, a day observed by the United Nations and the rest of the World. CCF commemorated this day with the presence of NGOCHR, CCF’s Steering Committee Members and Staff who came to the CCF Office for celebrations. The day started with messages of peace, songs and lighting of candles to remember our families, country and the world.

Peace Unplugged Concert- (25th September)

The “Peace Unplugged Concert” in it’s second year, is organized by Radio Pasifik (Triple 8FM), the community radio station of the University of the South Pacific. This concert was organised to commemorate the International Day of Peace through Music, Creative Arts, and Dance to portray the message of Peace. CCF co-sponsored T-Shirts for the concert organizers and volunteers.

Citizenship Workshop- (9th October)

The workshop was the first activity organized by the Youth programme. It also gave an opportunity for consultation in what ways the CCF youth programme could develop relationship with other organizations and youth networks and how other activities could be included to benefit its target groups and the target areas.

Objective of the Workshop:

  • Educating and Advocating to young people about the importance of Citizenship
  • Determine what citizenship is
  • Exploring the different aspects of the concept of  citizenship

Human Rights Day March- (10th December)

Held on December 10th; the International Human Rights Day marked by the member countries of the United Nations around the world. A march was organized by the NGO Coalition on Human Rights (NGOCHR) to celebrate the International Human Rights Day. CCF participated in this march and contributed to other human rights activities and events.  

Objective of the CCF Youth Programme

The CCF Youth Programme creates awareness on the roles and rights of young people to be responsible citizens and promote multiculturalism in our society. The CCF Youth Programme targets young people from ages 13 to 25 years using creative arts and community educational workshops. It supports on-going activities and involves other partners in establishing links with communities and youth networks.

Objectives

To:

  • Educate and advocate for Good Governance, Human Rights and Multiculturalism among Fiji’s Youth.
  • Promote multiculturalism to Fiji’s young people through extensive advocacy.
  • Provide and enhance youth networks in Fiji.

In 2007 the United Nation elaborated in details the rights of persons with disabilities. So far 140 countries signed the convention and 83 signed the Optional Protocol.
